Adapive Art- Roller Coasters

Woooo-whooooo! We created roller coasters using pipe cleaners, beads, and foam board. We read the book "Hooray for You" to go along with this project.

Adaptive Art and the Bean Stalk

I just loved how these turned out.

We read Jack and the Giant Bean Stalk and then created pictures of us climbing up a bean stalk. While the students were working, I took pictures of them acting like they were climbing up  the wall. Some of the poses are in perfect line with the leaves on their bean stalks.

Adaptive Art- Carrots

This quick and easy project could go along with any bunny story.

This project allowed students to practice counting and writing numbers.

We had time at the end of class to make these bunnies as well.

Adaptive Art- Snail Habitats

I think these turned out so cute.

We made the snails out of clay during one class that we had extra time. I was sure to poke a hole through the head for the pipe cleaner to be inserted into the follow class.

The next class we painted our snails, added antennae and eyes (these really make the snail look cute!), and create habitats for our snails. We included a little water and some tall grass.

Adaptive Art- Flower Pot

Students create these cute flower vases just in time for spring. We started by decorating a red paper with different lines and shapes. We then folded "feet" on each side of the red paper and put glue on them. We glued it on our paper and were sure to make it pop out 3-d. Next, we glued the flower stems coming out of the vase. And lastly, crinkled tissue paper and glued it for the flowers.

Adaptive Art- Pizza

We started this lesson by reading The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza.

Each student received a paper plate and 2 coloring sticks (tan, red, and yellow). We shaded the outside of the plate tan, then the circle indentation red for sauce, and last the middle yellow for cheese. Students then wrote the alphabet on pre-cut red circles. Lastly, we glued on the pepperoni, green paper for green peppers, and tan paper for onions. Here are the pizzas baking (drying) on the oven rack (Trixie the hamster's cage).

Adaptive Art- St. Patrick's Day

To begin this project we read Leprechaun Gold, any leprechaun or St. Patrick's Day book would work.

Then each student received a pre-cut black pot and an 8 x 11 piece of paper. Students glued the pot in a bottom corner of their paper. They then drew 5 rainbow lines coming from the pot to the other bottom corner of the paper.
We then dipped our paint brushes in paint and followed along the lines doing, dot-hop-dot-hop. Lastly we put some glittery gold paint on the pot.

Adaptive Art-Action Painting

We read Action Jackson and then created our own action paintings. Students created these by putting a piece of string inside a clothes pin. While holding the clothes pin, students dipped the string in paint and then dragged the string across their paper.

Adaptive Art-Snowflakes

This lesson could go with any book, we read Snow Days. After reading the book, students painted on a pre taped paper using blue, magenta, and purple. Make sure to use painters tape so it comes of easily.

Adaptive Art-Action Painting

After reading I Ain't Gonna Paint No More (which is such a cute book!) we created action paintings. Each student received a shoe box with a piece of paper inside. We put a couple of drops of glue on the paint, put a bouncy ball in the box (marbles, acorns would work too), closed the lid, then shook the box. Each student did a couple of paintings.

Adaptive Art-String of Lights

We read the book, Light The Lights! A Story About Celebrating Hanukkah And Christmas and then created a string of lights using fingerprints. Students first drew a squiggly line and drew squares along the line. Above each square, they did a fingerprint.

Adaptive Art-Pattern Snakes

Adaptive art students learned about patterns and practiced making them using cards tick shapes. They then created patterned on snakes.

Adaptive Art-Turkey

We started by reading 'Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving.

We then created the turkey. I already had feather shales cut out. Students used paint and texture rollers to create patterns on the feathers. Then we glued down the body and feathers to create the turkey. Students drew a circle in the middle of the body for the head. Lastly we glued on the eyes, beak, and waddle.
