2nd Grade- Mola Designs

2nd graders learned about aboriginal art and created Mola Designs. We used geometric shapes in the body and talked about different types of lines for the background.





Kindergarten- Still Lifes

Kindergarteners made some flower still Lifes for Mother's Day. We incorporated cutting, gluing, drawing and painting. 


1st grade- Cow Portraits

As our final days of school are dwindling down, we had to resort to some one day projects. Here are some cute cows that 1st graders made.

Kindergarten- Abstract Guitars

Kindergarteners learned about abstract art and created guitars inspired by Picasso. After gluing together our guitar, we listened to various types of music and drew lines that we heard if rom the music in the background. 




2nd grade- Flower Still Life's

2nd graders created flower vase still life's. These tied in perfect with Mothers Day. This was a two day project. Day one- we painted six flowers and a 3-D case using tints. One day two- we cut out our flowers, vase, glued them to a background paper, decorated the table, and added stems and leaves with construction paper. I think these were a big success. 




3rd Grade- Greek and Roman Architecture

3rd graders learned about Greek and Roman architecture and how this building style still influences architecture today. We then created our own Capitol buildings using the following elements- post and lintel, domes, arches, and columns.

4th grade- Cereal Boxes

4th graders learned about package design and graphic design and how they are both common art forms. Students studied different cereal boxes and how the design is used to persuade customers to buy their product. Students then created their own cereal boxes aimed at children ages 3-10. Some include slogans and prizes.




Kindergarten-Castle

Kindergarteners learned about architecture by designing their own castles. We created these castles in two class periods after reading the book Do Princesses Wear Hiking Boots? 

2nd Grade- Turtle Weavings

2nd graders creating paper weavings of turtles. Students created sea turtles in two class periods. One was for the weaving process and the other class was used to add details and background scenes.





2nd grade- Gyotaku fish prints

2nd graders created fish prints using the Japanese printmaking technique Gyotaku
