1st Grade- Owl Moon Landscapes

1st graders created landscapes inspired by the book Owl Moon. We used tempera paint, created a tint, and then added details with oil pastels the following class.

5th Grade- Portraits

5th graders created portraits using a grid. We focused on drawing from observation, paying attention to details, and value. Students got to choose an image of their choice for the portrait.

Kindergarten- President's Day

As a filler project. Kindergarteners created portraits of Abraham Lincoln. Didn't these turn out cute? 

2nd Grade- Figure Portraits inspired by Keith Haring.

2nd graders learned about figure portraits and body proportions. We then studied artwork by Keith Haring  and created artwork similar to his. Students included figure portraits, a fancy floor, and a background image. Lastly, we added glitter to make our drawing stand out.

Kindergarten- Butterflies

After learning about caterpillars, we did project on butterflies. We read the book Butterfly, butterfly. We then illustrated the book busy including a butterfly, trees, and even the character Lucy.

Kindergarten- The Very Hungry Caterpiller

Kindergarteners learner about the Very Hungry Caterpillar and secondary colors.

Day 1: We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We folded a 12 x 18 paper into 4 equal parts. We then mixed primary colors to get secondary colors. We painted half the paper green, a fourth purple, and a fourth orange.

Day 2: We traced 6 yogurt cups on the green section and 2 on the orange section. We cut them out and glued them on a turquoise paper. We then cut little purple rectangles for the legs and antennas. Lastly, we glued the turquoise paper to a purple paper and added details with markers.

1st Grade Valentines Cats

Good news! 1st graders can turn Valentine's Cats into superheroes, dogs, and princesses. I love the creativity!
