Class Routines

A lot of my classroom routines revolve around table colors. I have five tables in my class and each one has its own color.

You can see me Art Room Job Chart above. Each table color is assigned certain jobs. This way everyone has a job almost every day. That table is also trained to become experts of their jobs.

The bottom picture shows the table trays and folders. Each tray is marked with a certain color because it belongs to that table. That table is responsible for keeping their supplies nice and neat. The color folders are used at the end of class if the project is at least a two day project. The students put their projects in the corresponding table folder. This makes passing out projects easier the following class period. The folders are made by simple laminating construction paper and folding it in half.

The Art Class Rules are posted at the front of the class. Anytime a rule is met, the class receives a point. A class can receive a total of 6 points in one class. I keep track of all of the class points on a chart. After 10 weeks the class with the most points receives an award. This could be choosing a new seat for the day, picking out a prize, or taking home a certificate.

Lastly I have a bulletin board with K-5 listed on it. I attach the project for the day by the corresponding grade level. This way, students know what they are working on in class the moment they walk into art.
