5th Grade- Symmetry Boot

With all the snow days, some classes are ahead of others so I used this project as a filler. It also worked out perfectly because our Literacy Night theme was "Stampede to Read" and was Western theme.

Students drew a boot shape on a 12 x 18 inch paper. I created templates to trace, but some wanted to create the boot on their own. They folded the boot in half down the leg shaft. They wrote their name on one side of the line and took it to the window to trace to create a symmetrical image.

Now they were free to decorate as they pleased. Most students traced lines with sharpie to make it nice and neat. Most colored in their boot using color sticks because it is fast plus, you can draw one top of colored sticks with marker, unlike crayons. Some students used metallic paper to make spurs and added glitter for extra bling.
